The 2023 Syrah was harvested on October 20th at 22.4 Brix, yielding just under 2 tons from the east face of Sonoma Mountain. The vineyard is dramatically perched just above a horse ranch, overlooking a scenic vista that captures the morning sun. These 20+ year-old vines are grown in the distinctive Spreckels soil series, known for producing wines of exceptional structure. Notably, the wine has notes of distinct Sonoma Mountain garrigue—attributed to the abundance of pennyroyal between the vine rows. One quarter of the fruit was fermented 100% whole cluster and kept separate, while the remaining three-quarters underwent fermentation with one-third whole cluster—both lots relying on native yeasts. The wine was barreled down to neutral French oak for 18 months before bottling.

A total of 124 cases were produced.
